Kyowa Hakko Sponsors Brain Health Scientific Posters at SupplySide East

April 26, 2005

Posters focus on citicoline studies by Perry Renshaw, M.D., Ph.D., Director at the Brain Imaging Center, McLean Hospital and Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School.

New York, N.Y. – Two citicoline studies under the direction of Perry Renshaw, M.D., Ph.D., director, Brain Imaging Center, McLean Hospital and Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, Belmont, MA, and leading scientific researcher on the health benefits of citicoline, will be the featured in the Camden Lobby of the Baltimore Convention Center from May 4-6 during SupplySide East as part of the scientific poster exhibition.

Both Renshaw study investigations have shown highly beneficial effects in maintaining cognitive function. The first citicoline poster, “Differential effect of CDP-choline on brain cytosolic choline levels in younger and older subjects as measured by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy,” had not previously been studied in humans. The research showed evidence that citicoline can increase phosphatidylcholine synthesis in the human brain thereby helping to maintain cognitive function. The second scientific poster, “Chronic citicoline increases phosphodiesters in the brains of healthy older subjects: an in vivo phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy study” provided the first in vivo data demonstrating that oral citicoline intake may be of use in reversing age related cognitive changes.
