Kyowa Hakko, Well-Known Amino Acids Supplier, Recognized as Industry Leader
New York, N.Y. – Kyowa Hakko has received the Excellent Supplier Award from PPG Industries for superior accomplishments in 2004. Luke Scrivanich, PPG general manager, fine chemicals, and Walter Sakowicz, business manager, presented Kyowa Hakko representatives the Excellent Supplier Award trophy at a ceremony in New York City.
Kyowa Hakko, which supplies amino acids to PPG's fine chemicals business in the United States, was one of nine companies honored by the Pittsburgh, PA-based global manufacturer of coatings, fiber glass, glass and chemicals.
Kyowa Hakko, one of the world leaders in developing, manufacturing and marketing pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and functional food products, is also the maker of Cognizin™ brand citicoline. Kyowa Hakko was the recipient of the Nutracon NutrAward for the best new ingredient of 2003 for Cognizin™.
"Kyowa Hakko’s performance in 2004 was outstanding," Scrivanich said. "Their service, delivery, responsiveness and commercial value have been superb.
"Kyowa Hakko has communicated well and reacted quickly to ensure product quality, and their pricing and general customer service have far exceeded PPG's expectations. We consider them a very reliable and important business partner, and view our relationship with Kyowa Hakko as a significant competitive advantage to PPG," Sakowicz noted.
"Our goal is to provide a selection of quality products and excellent service to our customers in all industries," said Mike Inoue, Kyowa Hakko president. "This award, as well as having been selected as Supplier of the Month last November in the nutraceutical industry and the NutrAward are great acknowledgements."
"We are a bio-innovator with a commitment to research and development to create new value around health-related products through science," added Yutaki Ouchi, Kyowa Hakko vice president.
Selection for PPG’s supplier awards is based on ratings and evaluations measuring quality, delivery, documentation, innovation, responsiveness and commercial value. Participation in the Supplier Added Value Effort ($AVE) program, as well as other continuous improvements, play an increasingly important role in earning the award.
