Makoto Yagasaki to Speak About New Fermentology Breakthroughs
Febuary 24, 2009
New York, NY – Kyowa Hakko, the international health ingredients manufacturer and world leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and food products, was the first company to develop amino acids using fermentation technology. On Wednesday, March 4 at Nutracon, the premier event for ingredient and technology innovation in the health and nutrition industry, Makoto Yagasaki, Ph.D., principal scientist for Kyowa Hakko Bio, will be one of the featured speakers discussing New Fermentology Breakthroughs.
The seminar takes place at the Anaheim Hilton Hotel in the San Clemente Room from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday, March 4.
As a leader in fermentation technology, Kyowa Hakko (now Kyowa Hakko Bio) has recently achieved a new breakthrough in dipeptide formation, which is a combination of two amino acids connected to each other with a peptide bond. Peptides are very unique as they become a new molecule and have the functional benefits beyond individual amino acids. Dr. Yagasaki, based in Hofu, Japan, at the Technical Research Laboratories, Kyowa Hakko Bio Co. Ltd., will discuss this new dipeptide technology as well as the new functional benefits of physiology, stability, taste, solubility and color.
Kyowa develops products through fermentation processes using agricultural products such as sugars, rather than carbon dioxide-emitting fossil fuels. By feeding sugar to the microorganism, it converts the sugar into any naturally existing compounds, such as amino acids, that are found throughout living creatures.
Further, instead of using high-pressure, high-temperature processes to produce synthetic chemicals, Kyowa Hakko employs eco-friendly temperatures and pressure to produce a natural, more stable result.
The company creates new value around health-related products through innovations in science and leads the world in producing amino acids through bio-processing using microorganisms.
The maker of the branded ingredients Cognizin® Citicoline, Hydrafend™ Hyaluronic Acid, Lumistor® L-Hydroxyproline, Kyowa CoQ10®, Setria® Glutathione and Sustamine™ Alanyl Glutamine, Kyowa offers manufacturers and formulators one of the industry's most extensive lines of over 50 amino acids and related compounds, including D-Amino acids and branch-chain amino acids, as well as nucleic acids, bio-products and fine chemicals.
